Operations Manager |
Role Purpose
Manage and coordinate company wide Operations and Inventory
Typical Work Activities
- Manage Plant Operations, Customer Service & Logistics Department and Lab/Quality Assurance Department
- Responsible for managing inventory availability, evaluating appropriate action and best use, developing system tools for analysis and management, and serving as focal point for inventory questions
- Prioritize and coordinate plant conditioning and work-order flow with Sales and Customer Service to meet and/or exceed customer expectations
- Quality Control - Manage seed lab to ensure all lots are tested on a timely basis to ensure accurate labeling and marketability
- Work closely with production and sales department to coordinate new crop deliveries to plants and keep supply in line with demand utilizing current and developing new information tools
- Identify, develop and implement new technologies and procedures to improve quality and efficiency
- Coordinate and manage company-wide safety program
- Monitor and ensure regulatory compliance at all seed conditioning facilities
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture or a related field
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Strong leadership skills
- Proven managerial experience
- Broad knowledge of safety and environmental systems and procedures
- Ability to interface with management, growers, staff and other functional areas of the community
- Knowledge of seed conditioning methods.
- Working knowledge of budgets and financials statements.

Logistics / Inventory Manager |
Role Purpose
Plans, organizes, directs and controls the logistics functions of the company
Typical Work Activities
- Plans, directs, and controls the performance of all inventory and logistics activities.
- Establishes major objectives and policies for the Logistics Department.
- Reviews and approves plans for the control of all areas of Logistics including budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, departmental effectiveness and human utilization.
- Recommends and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs and maintain up-to-date Logistics practices.
- Coordinates activities of the logistics areas with other company functions. Seeks mutual agreement on problems involving coordination.
- Prepares operating plans where options exist for production, shipment and inventory.
- Manages and analyzes inventory levels and lot data in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Generates monthly reports and data outlining problematic lots to review with Sales.
Educational Requirements
- BA degree in business or equivalent experience required
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- A minimum of 10 year's management experience ideally with the responsibilities of a seed production and/or quality assurance department and/or inventory management
- Must have the ability and discipline to interact professionally and effectively with management and fellow employees under sometimes-stressful conditions

Shipping and Receiving Manager |
Role Purpose
Responsible for all shipping & receiving functions
Typical Work Activities
- Coordinates the preparation of all orders for shipping.
- Responsible for the completion of all receiving documents, returns and purchases, while insuring that they are processed in a timely manner.
- Inspects and approves all documentation for accuracy and completeness prior to shipping.
- Responsible for the proper and safe loading of shipments onto trucks
- Responsible for the completion of all required shipping paperwork including Courier Log, Bus, LTL freight bills, etc.
- Keeps on going inventory of shipping supplies.
- Acquires freight charge information and other shipping information when necessary.
- Responsibilities include coordinating the preparation of International shipping documents with the Sales department.
Educational Requirements
- Minimum High School diploma
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- At least 5 years experience in shipping and or logistic functions in a seed or related industry
- Ability to operate a fork lift
- Familiarity with local and federal safety and work place regulations

Supply Chain Director |
Role Purpose
Plans, organizes, directs and controls the supply chain functions of the company
Typical Work Activities
- Plans, directs, and controls the performance of all Supply Chain activities
- Establishes major objectives and policies for the Supply Chain Department
- Provides internal and external reports as required by management as necessary for the smooth operation of the company
- Reviews and approves plans for the control of all areas of Supply Chain including budget spending, labor efficiency, material efficiency, departmental effectiveness and human utilization
- Develops and recommends corporate supply chain policy within the department’s functional areas
- Defines and recommends objectives in each area of Supply Chains. Develops specific short term and long term plans and programs, together with supporting budget requests and financial estimates
- Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the corporation in establishing and carrying out responsibilities
- Reviews and approves major projects within the department’s functional areas
Educational Requirements
- B.S degree in Business, manufacturing, operations, supply chain or related discipline
- M.B.A. or M.S. highly desirable
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- APICS training and Certification required
- A minimum of 15 years experience, ideally gained through increasingly responsible management positions within a seed production/quality assurance environment.
- A minimum of 10 year's upper management experience ideally with the responsibilities of a seed production and/or quality assurance department and/or inventory management.

Warehouse / Plant Manager |
Role Purpose
Responsible for the organization, scheduling and directing of the company plant and warehouse internal day-to-day operations
Typical Work Activities
- Manages warehouse operations including shipping and receiving, packaging and treating, all areas of seed processing, and quality control.
- Maintains physical inventory of seed.
- Manages a staff of supervisors to ensure that warehouse operations are running smoothly.
- Responsible for plant and facility safety and physical security.
- Monitors MSDS sheets and safety training for warehouse personnel.
- Works with safety coordinator to ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Responsible for scheduling warehouse personnel and for ensuring proper staffing. Schedules temporary contract labor when necessary ensuring a productive and positive labor climate in the warehouse operations.
- Responsible for maintenance of warehouse equipment, providing both preventative maintenance programs and all necessary repairs.
- Ensures that warehouse personnel have safe and efficient equipment.
- Generates warehouse reports as required, accounts for all labor hours, both direct and indirect and adheres to budget requirements and works towards obtaining objectives and division goals.
- Interfaces with Quality Assurance, Production, Sales, Research, Finance and Administration, and
- Human Resources departments to ensure well-coordinated and efficient completion of all activities pertinent to the warehouse operations.
- Assist QA Director in facilitating routine warehouse and inventory activity in his absence.
- Manages purchasing of equipment and supplies for the department.
Educational Requirements
- B.S. degree in business, agriculture or related discipline required
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- A minimum 6 years seed processing and warehouse related experience required
- A minimum 4 years supervisory experience required

Customer Service Representative |
Role Purpose
Provide leadership in coordinating inventory management , bagging and shipping to customer orders
Typical Work Activities
- Coordinate inventory for domestic shipments and export as needed
- Instruct bagging to customers specifications
- Coordinate, schedule and ship customer's orders once completed.
- Prioritize bagging, shipping schedule with mills for domestic orders, assist export as needed
- Communicate frequently with customer regarding product.
- Liaise with state certifying agencies when questions arise
- Advise sales department on inventory issues
Educational Requirements
- B.S. degree or diploma in agricultural science
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Familiarity with inventory, bagging and shipping functions in the seed industry
- Customer communication experience
- Familiarity with state agencies and regulations
- Detail orientation
- Ability to work under tight timelines during planting season

Export Logistics Coordinator |
Role Purpose
Responsible for all export documentation, to include shipments of the entire company
Coordinates with the Production, QA and Sales Departments for all necessary information to fulfill all customer requirements.
Typical Work Activities
- Creating international documents for all export shipments
- Coordinate and maintain field inspection, seed purity and disease analysis library.
- Coordinate with Production Department necessary field Inspection requirements for company export
- Work with sales coordinators to expedite all export shipments
- Advise sales department of all incoming seed purchases
- Stay current on new international trade regulations
- Contact freight company’s and arrange containers and shipment for all seed exported for sales and production
Educational Requirements
- BA or BS degree in business administration or related subject preferred
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- Minimum four years responsible administrative experience required.
- Export documentation experience highly desired.
- Seed experience, international documentation and inventory experience highly desired.
- Additional languages to English an asset
