The Malting Barley Committee (MBC) has updated its approved list for harvest 2019.
The MBC assesses the suitability of approved varieties and those within the testing system for their suitability for brewing and distilling use.
Changes to the approved lists
Craft has been given Full Approval for brewing
Fairing and Olympus have been given Full Approval for grain distilling use (following changes to the approval protocol specific to grain distilling varieties).
Chanson has been moved to Provisional Approval 2 for brewing.
Electrum has been given Provisional Approval 1 for brewing.
LG Diablo has been given Provisional Approval 1 for brewing and malt distilling.
RGT Asteroid has been given Provisional Approval 1 for brewing, malt distilling and grain distilling use.
Talisman has been removed from the list for brewing.
The full updated approved list for harvest 2019 can be accessed from the MAGB website. It should be used alongside the AHDB Recommended Lists.
