May 2018
The Asia and Pacific Seed Association (APSA), Thailand along with Kasetsart University (KU), Thailand is jointly organizing the first conference of “Asian Cucurbits Round Table (ACRT) 2018” from 19th to 21st July, 2018 at the Ruang Khao Room, Vajiranusorn Building, the Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
Please be informed that the deadline to register for this event is 15 June 2018.
Three years ago (2014) a platform was created called the Asian Solanaceous Round Table (ASRT) for scientists from both public and private sectors to work on a public-private partnership (PPP) mode towards finding solutions for the farmers’ problems in the Asian region, focusing on the Solanaceous family of vegetables, primarily tomato, pepper and eggplant.
This year, the Asian Cucurbit Round Table will focus on key commercial cucurbit crops, which include watermelon, melon, bitter gourd and cucumber. ACRT will serve as the ideal research forum, featuring presentations from accomplished, expert keynote speakers, in addition to a panel discussion led by representatives from research institutes, universities and seed companies. Discussions will focus on topics spanning Cucurbit diseases, quality management and diagnostic assays, advanced breeding technology, country market updates and challenges in Asia. The meeting will also explore potential collaborations between the private and public sectors. On the final day, there will be a field visit, giving participants the opportunity to inspect some disease resistance varieties developed by the World Vegetable Centre.
