Because of the strong portfolio of DSV sports turfgrasses – especially in official ranking lists regarding suitability of turfgrasses for sports uses - the Danish football club Brøndby IF has decided to use DSV genetics in the future. The football club has been at the top of the league in Denmark for many years and is currently the number. 1, with only a few rounds left to play. The groundskeeper in Brøndby, Chris Hague, is very ambitious about the stadium turf: "It is very important for me that every single turf variety in my mixture has the right characteristics and quality for the high requirements of my football pitch. DSV has top ranked varieties, especially with outstanding sports characteristics, such as wear tolerance and persistence. This made it possible for me to compile exactly the mixture I wanted – a mixture of the best varieties on the market. It is my task to ensure the players have the best basis for winning matches – likewise, I expect of my suppliers, that I have the best basis of doing my work with.”

The English groundskeeper of the Brøndby stadium has won the award for the best turf in the league for several times. Lasse Bech, managing director of DSV Denmark is proud of DSV being the chosen partner: “The fact that our seed is the basis for the number 1 in the league makes us extra proud. It shows that all the resources we are investing in the development of varieties are well worth it.”

There are large demands in delivering turfgrass seeds to top clubs in the Danish league. The 4-5 months lasting winter break is long and puts the turf on the test. But then, when the seasons starts, it has to be on point from one moment to another. The turf has to endure a full season – and not just few weeks like a tournament. That means that only the best varieties will succeed and meet the high demands. Luckily, DSV has a broad range of top varieties, which is also recognized by the English Turfgrass List by BSPB, where DSV varieties are leading the ranking list with positions 1-4.

DSV will intensify the cooperation with the greenkeeper Chris Hague in the future in order to ensure the delivered mixtures fit to the requirements of the Brøndby pitch, as he is convinced that top genetics are the basis to obtain the maximum with high quality maintenance and DSV is the best partner for that.
