Trends in winter oilseed rape breeding

Germany
January 31, 2018

From a breeder’s point of view, the 2016/2017 oilseed rape growing season proved very successful for the DSV, with its varieties performing strongly in trials in several countries.

Its success in breeding in resistance to turnip yellow virus (TuYV) and focussing on broad Phoma resistance in the different cultivars produced very consistent, high-performance results throughout Europe.

The virus-resistant varieties TEMPTATION and DELICE have already been registered. With further approvals expected in all countries DSV will be able to extend its offering with up to ten new varieties this coming year.

This will raise the profile of the DSV portfolio, making the company ideally equipped to continue competing on an international stage and providing farmers with high-yielding oilseed rape cultivars of superior quality.

In addition to the conventional hybrids, the approval of five new varieties in the HOLL segment has strengthened DSV’s leading position in the speciality oils sector.
