Germinal strengthens sales team with appointment for Scotland & North–East England

United Kingdom
January 23, 2018

Forage specialist Germinal has extended its agricultural sales team with the appointment of William Fleming to cover Scotland and the north–east of England.

Reporting to Germinal GB National Agricultural Sales Manager Ben Wixey, William’s primary role will be to provide essential technical assistance to merchant customers in these regions, supporting the company’s extensive grass and forage crop ranges.

With a farming background in Lanarkshire, William studied agriculture at SRUC Auchincruive before returning home to work in the family’s dairy and sheep business. Operating a system to maximise production from grazing and quality silage, he gained a thorough understanding of the practical aspects of forage–based livestock farming.

“I’ve been used to a forage–focussed approach where 10–15% of the farm is reseeded each year to produce as much as possible from homegrown feed,” says William. “This is a philosophy that Germinal promotes so I feel I can bring a lot of first–hand experience to my new role.

“It’s going to be increasingly important to push the benefits of forage–based systems in the future, especially in the climate of uncertainty surrounding the UK’s exit from the EU.”

Germinal GB markets the highly successful range of Aber High Sugar Grasses and Aber white and red clovers, plus an innovative range of brassica fodder crops, high protein forage crops and forage maize. William Fleming took up his new position from the beginning of December and is contactable on 07971 640 428.
