In order to improve construction and management of seed production bases and ensure seed safety in agricultural production, the National Agricultural Technology Extension and Service Center held an experience exchanging meeting and an on-the-spot meeting of seed production bases in Yihuang County, Jiangxi Province, on July 16-17, 2010. Participants visited a seed production base of hybrid rice over there, and exchanged experience, problems and suggestions in the management of seed production bases.

Participants agreed that, against the general background of autonomous production of seed by enterprises and autonomous contracted operation of arable land by farmers, all local authorities should carefully summarize successful experience of construction and management of seed production bases, actively explore effective patterns of seed production under the current system and laws and regulations, make clear roles and functions of departments and organizations in base management, and probe into the operation and guarantee system for stabilizing and developing bases, so as to ensure sustained and healthy growth of seed production industries.
