Marrone Bio Innovations to educate and update growers, stakeholders and graduate students on modern trends in today's agriculture, including biopesticides and biostimulants

Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc. (NASDAQ:MBII), (MBI) a leading provider of bio-based pest management and plant health products for agriculture, turf and ornamental and water treatment markets, has announced it is sponsoring an educational symposia for growers in Honduras and Chile.

Dr. Bielinski Santos, Field Development and Technical Services Manager for MBI's Southeastern U.S. and Caribbean territories, serves on the executive committee of the Latin America Ag Educational Network that organized the symposium. Titled, "1st Technical Symposium on Research and Modern Agricultural Production Techniques," the event will occur annually in Latin America, and this year is being hosted on September 2, 2017 at the "Escuela Agricola Panamericana at Zamorano, Honduras," an important and renowned agricultural university in Central America and the Caribbean. The meeting will focus on current and important topics for agricultural production in the region that would broadly benefit from the adoption of modern research and technologies. The Latin America Ag Educational Network's primary goal is to open a constant educational channel to communicate relevant research results beyond scientific conferences.

The talks are being delivered by nine experts in each field from seven countries. There will be also graduate student presentations in the afternoon session. The topics include:

  • Experiences with biopesticides and stimulants in specialty crops (Dr. Bielinski Santos, MBI)
  • Principles to design an efficient nutritional program for crops (Dr. Bielinski Santos, MBI)
  • Use of soilless media for premium pepper production under protected agriculture (I Hernandez, Univ. of Florida (UF))
  • Moisture sensors for irrigation of fruit trees (C Zambrano, UF)
  • Monitoring moisture in modern corn production (M Zamora, UF)
  • Efficient management of low input cattle production in Central America (H Obregon, Latin America Ag Educational Network)
  • Optimizing early strawberry production (E Torres, EAP-Zamorano)
  • Economic importance of effectively controlling beetles (J Orozco, EAP-Zamorano)
  • Production of biodegradable polymers (JA Ruano, EAP-Zamorano)
  • Cover crops for weed control and crop nutrition (A Serra, EAP-Zamorano)

Over 200 people have already RSVP'd for the event, and nearly 300 attendees are expected.
