Vietnam issues decrees supporting biotech initiatives

Two decrees have just been issued by Vietnam's national government that will benefit those in the biotechnology sector. These are:
- Decree No. 69/2010/ND-CP released on June 21, 2010 on biosafety guidelines for genetically modified (GM) crops, genetic samples and products of GM crops. Details are available at http://www.agbiotech.com.vn/vn/?mnu=preview&key=3037
- Decree No. 61/2010/ND-CP on June 4, 2010 regarding investment policies for businessmen in agriculture and rural areas. Biotechnology is included in the list that will benefit from special investment incentives in agriculture such as preferential tax and land payments.
