In March, SGS will move into a new state-of-the-art facility in Brookings, South Dakota, combining all its services under one roof.

With 30% more space than our existing facilities, our new 68,000 sq. ft. home delivers the space needed to meet our clients’ growing needs with a wide variety of expanded capabilities.

SGS has always been at the forefront of global seed and food testing practices, and our new premises in Brookings give us the scope to continue to grow with our customers. The new facility will give us the ability to expand our capacity for services, including:

• Germination, vigor and purity testing on more than 500 species
• Trait confirmation
• DNA testing
• Authorized seed sampler training
• ISTA testing for export
• GMO testing
• Feed and crop analysis
• Research services
• GLP testing capabilities
• Food testing

We have been providing laboratory testing services in Brookings, South Dakota, for nearly 25 years, where our 110-strong team is our most important asset. The success of our Brookings’ team and facility stems from the relationships we have developed with clients – understanding their needs and exceeding their expectations. The new site will allow us to expand our capabilities with a greater focus on quality and safety, to include:

• Upgraded planting line
• Improved sample grinding and disposal equipment
• New analytical equipment, including LC/MSMS 6500+
• Expanded food testing capabilities

Thirty percent larger than our old facility, the new site offers seven dedicated germination rooms with temperature monitoring systems, ensuring complete traceability; the separation of processes, eliminating the risk of cross-contamination; and centrally located sample receiving, acting as a hub to our eight laboratories, allowing for faster processing.

The new site has also been designed with safety in mind. A special ‘Tour path’ has been incorporated to allow visitors to see our laboratory without interrupting processes or seeing confidential client information.

SGS’s new facility at Brookings, South Dakota, sets the standard for quality seed, crop, feed and food testing in North America. ISO 9001 certified and accredited to ISTA and ISO 17025, our new site will deliver outstanding turnaround times in a centrally located position in the USA.
