A small effective machine with high impact: In close collaboration with the GIZ, PETKUS delivered a mobile seed plant to NAFASO, the largest seed producer in Burkina Faso with considerable market share in West to Central Africa. The mobile plant with the cleaner type K 531 as the centrepiece is doing a great job. During the ten weeks of operation, more than 2.000 t of seeds such as maize, black eyed peas, sorghum and sesame were processed.
Due to the outstanding performance of the mobile plant, the growers association UNPS-B (Union National des Producteurs Semenciers du Burkina) with 4.000 seed producers in the background decided to order 13 additional machines to improve and increase seed production. They expect a considerable boost in national seed market growth driven by internal capital strength.
Starting in autumn 2017, the containerized seed plants should process 25.000 t of seeds in order to supply 300.000 ha of crop area. The impact on other African countries is expected to be substantial. The interest to date has already been very high. The German Development Minister, Gerd Müller, personally visited NAFASO and the small effective machine with the high impact.
