New order: BoMill AB hits the Canadian prairies again with its grain sorting technique
Sweden
February 24, 2017
The Swedish company BoMill AB has yet again received an order of their grain sorting technique, TriQ, to the Canadian market. The order came from BoMill´s distributor Flaman Grain Cleaning Division of Flaman Group of Companies. Jason Basset of Peterson Grain Processors, located near Bruno SK, is the latest owner of BoMill’s TriQ technology. The main focus will be sorting out fusarium in Barley for the malting houses.
The TriQ technology can be used to sort Durum wheat, Soft wheat, Malting barley, Spelt and Oat on Fusarium, Protein, Vitreousness, Seed quality and Falling number with a speed of 25000 kernels per second. This makes the TriQ very profitable for businesses within seed cleaning, grain handling and milling.
Per Söderström, Marketing Director, says “We are very happy about entering the malt barley business chain where there are very strict limits of vomitoxin (DON). This order clearly shows that our sorting solution based upon Single Kernel Sorting is becoming a part of a strategic decision in our customer’s way of developing their businesses.”
Mitch Flaman, Operations manager, says, “The biggest struggle this year has been educating producers and end users on the difference between Fusarium and vomitoxin (DON). Understanding the difference between visual FDK (fusarium damaged kernels) and internal kernel toxicity (DON) has kept the industry busy with this year’s Fusarium epidemic. By looking through each individual kernel with TriQ’s single kernel sorting technology, BoMill offers a very exclusive method able to effectively segregate healthy kernels from toxic kernels. It’s not what’s visually on the outside that is important, it’s understanding what’s on the inside. The technology truly is second to none and we are excited to start focusing on the malt barley sector.
