Germany
January 17, 2017
DSV´s cereal breeding is a story of success since 25 years. The next chapter has begun last year: After withdrawal from the long lasting distribution partner in Germany - I.G. Pflanzenzucht GmbH - DSV started in 2016 their own activities in the cereals business. In autumn, the first multiplication areas were established in cooperation with many multiplication companies all over Germany. The strong portfolio includes four winter wheat varieties and one winter barley variety. All varieties are ready for listing in March 2017.
The winter wheat varieties JUMBO, OPTIK and ABRAXAS belong to the highest yielding varieties in the three years of official trials. The winter wheat variety BOSS has a unique combination of the features susceptibility for fusarium (APS 3) and lodging (APS 3) and tending to wintering (APS 3-4).
The winter barley variety HEDWIG has high yields, is very steam stiff and healthy. The most interesting feature of this variety is the double resistance against the soilborn yellow mosaic virus type 1 and 2 and against the mild mosaic virus. We are confident that several of the candidates will be registered.
