United Kingdom - AHDB fungicide performance data released for Syngenta's new cereal product Elatus Era

United Kingdom
January 10, 2017

Fungicide performance information for the new cereal product Elatus Era has been released by AHDB.

Registered for use on wheat, barley, rye and triticale for the control of all major cereal diseases, the Syngenta product combines the recently trademarked SDHI active ingredient Solatenol (benzovindiflupyr) and the azole prothioconazole.

The effectiveness of fungicides against foliar wheat and barley diseases is tested in independent AHDB trials and Elatus Era was tested in the 2015/16 trials.

Dr Paul Gosling, who manages fungicide performance research at AHDB, said: “Elatus Era has only been in trial for one year but we can be confident in releasing the findings for septoria in wheat and rhynchosporium in barley, because the product was tested at multiple sites.

“Based on dose-response information, Elatus Era shows strong performance against septoria and rhynchosporium in both protectant and eradicant situations.

“This is in line with the general performance of the best other commercially available fungicides tested and gives growers a useful alternative option as we head into the 2017 spray season.”

Results for other key foliar diseases of wheat and barley will be published later in 2017. Preliminary results do not show any significant weaknesses in performance compared to other key products in trial.

Fungicide performance information

Led by ADAS, in partnership with NIAB, SRUC and Harper Adams University, AHDB fungicide performance information can be used to help optimise spray programmes.

Full fungicide performance data from the 2015/16 trials and previous years is available at cereals.ahdb.org.uk/fungicide

 Supplementary Fungicide Performance Data Septoria

Wheat septoria tritici dose-response curves for a range of products, including Elatus Era, from the 2015/16 fungicide performance trials (7 trials). Use Imtrex and Vertisan only in mixture with at least one fungicide with an alternative mode of action and that has efficacy against the target pathogen
