Canada - Bayer launches Luxxur, the first wheat herbicide solution for Canadian farmers to tackle wild oats and perennials

Calgary, Alberta, Canada
December 5, 2016

Bayer has announced the launch of Luxxur®, a powerful new wheat herbicide for controlling the toughest weeds, including wild oats and perennials.

Luxxur is a high-performance weed management tool, offering farmers outstanding control of their toughest weeds like wild oats, narrow-leaved hawk’s beard and perennials including Canada thistle and dandelion.

“At Bayer, we understand that maintaining a clean field is an important part of achieving maximum yield potential. The early elimination of tough-to-control weeds like wild oats and perennials is fundamental to a successful weed management strategy,” says James Humphris, Crop Manager, Cereals at Bayer.

Recent Luxxur trials demonstrated superior grass control compared to other Group 2 herbicides, with additional control on other problem weeds like perennial sow thistle, Canada thistle, dandelion and scentless chamomile.

“In developing Luxxur, we set out to provide Canadian farmers with the only combined solution of grass and perennial control to take care of farmers toughest weeds, which is unique in this market,” says Humphris. “Flexible tank mixing also allows farmers to choose the right annual broadleaf partner to complete the spectrum of control.”

Offered in a convenient co-pack format of 40 acre jugs or 80 acre boxes, Luxxur has very limited re-cropping restrictions, allowing for greater flexibility, particularly for pulse farmers.

For more information regarding Luxxur, farmers are encouraged to talk to their local retailers or visit cropscience.bayer.ca/Luxxur.
