New Zealand - Amendment to the Schedule of regulated (quarantine) weed seeds
New Zealand
December 2, 2016
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has issued an amendment to Schedule of regulated (quarantine) weed seeds. The Schedule, dated 01 December 2016, replaces the earlier version of the standard dated 08 September 2016. The revised schedule can be downloaded here:
The following changes have been incorporated in this amendment:
- Rhaponticum repens has been added as an entry in the schedule in its own right (since this is the accepted species name), and listed Acroptilon repens and Centaurea repens as synonyms under it (both species were already listed under the schedule). This reflects the correct taxonomic name of this species.
- The schedule currently reads “Cortaderia (all species except C. fulvida, C. jubata, C. richardii, C. selloana, C. splendens, C. toetoe & C. turbaria)”. It should instead read “Cortaderia (all species except C. fulvida, C. richardii, C. splendens, C. toetoe & C. turbaria)”. C. jubata and C. selloana are ‘Entry Prohibited’.
- The schedule currently reads “Zizania (all species except Z. latifolia)”. It should instead read “Zizania (all species including Z. latifolia and Z. palustris)”.
