Graincom GmbH is the name of a new company that was founded by AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG as a majority shareholder on July 1, 2016. The main purpose of the Hamburg based company is to manage national and international trade in brewing barley.
"Brewing barley is an interesting market within the field of grain trading and by establishing this company, AGRAVIS is paying it the attention required, also from a business perspective," explains Dr Clemens Große Frie, Chairman of the Managing Board. He goes on to explain that the new company represents a further step made by AGRAVIS to "grow in terms of quality and grab the opportunities available to us".
A total of approximately 6.5 million tons of brewing barley are traded worldwide every year. The main countries of cultivation in Europe are France, Great Britain and the Scandinavian countries. "I am certain that by expanding our brewing barley activities, we will be able to play a noticeable role in this market in the future," states Steffen Holsten, the area manager responsible for agricultural products at AGRAVIS.
Nils Krage will provide Graincom GmbH with special expertise and many years of experience in trade in brewing barley. He is a partner of the new company and will be responsible for its management.
Graincom GmbH: Neues Unternehmen am Markt
Graincom GmbH ist der Name eines neuen Unternehmens, das die AGRAVIS Raiffeisen AG als Mehrheitsgesellschafter seit dem 1. Juli 2016 am Start hat. Zweck des Unternehmens mit Sitz in Hamburg ist der nationale und internationale Handel mit Braugerste.
„Braugerste ist ein interessanter Markt innerhalb des Getreidehandels Getreidehandels , dem wir als AGRAVIS auf diesem Weg die nötige – auch unternehmerische – Aufmerksamkeit widmen“, begründet Vorstandschef Dr. Clemens Große Frie. Es sei ein weiterer Schritt der AGRAVIS, „qualitativ zu wachsen und sich bietende Chancen zu ergreifen“.
Weltweit werden in jedem Jahr etwa 6,5 Mio. Tonnen Braugerste gehandelt. Hauptanbauländer in Europa sind Frankreich, Skandinavien und Großbritannien. „Ich bin überzeugt, dass wir durch den Ausbau unserer Braugersten-Aktivitäten künftig eine wahrnehmbare Rolle in diesem Markt spielen können“, formuliert Steffen Holsten, Leiter des Bereichs Agrarerzeugnisse bei der AGRAVIS.
Das spezielle Expertenwissen und eine langjährige Erfahrung beim Handel mit Braugerste bringt Nils Krage mit. Er ist Mitgesellschafter am neuen Unternehmen und wird die Geschäftsführung übernehmen.
