Bio-economy and tech leaders join Phyllom BioProducts’ business advisory board

Phyllom BioProducts Corp., the horticulture industry’s innovation leader in microbial insect control, announced appointments of Murray McLaughlin Ph.D. and Lance Cottrell M.S. to its Business Advisory Board.

Dr. Murray McLaughlin is a distinguished leader in the chemical industry’s effort to convert to a sustainable bio-economy through disruptive innovation. He’s the founding Executive Director of Bio-industrial Innovation Canada (BIC) and the Sustainable Chemistry Alliance, Sarnia, ON. Through BIC he manages the Canadian AgSci Cluster with support from Ag and AgriFood, Canada. Dr. McLauglin held earlier posts in private, public and NGOs. These included Director Business Development, Canadian Light Source; President, Ontario AgriFood Technologies, Deputy Minister, Saskatchewan, Ministry Agriculture & Food; President, Ag-West Biotech, Inc.; Founder, Agricultural Bioscience International Conference (ABIC); Managing Partner, Foragen Technologies, LP; Marketing and Research Executive, ELANCO; He also serves on numerous boards and committees including: BioEconomy Network (BEN); BioNB, FP Innovations and the Industrial BioProducts Value Chain Roundtable. Dr McLaughlin holds a B.Sc.Agr. From McGill and an M.S. & Ph.D. from Cornell Universities. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Dalhousie University; The Gold Leaf Award from BioTeCanada, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, Life Science Ontario’s 2016 Lifetime achievement award. Biofuels Digest identified McLaughlin as a Top 100 global leader in the Advanced BioEconomy.

Lance Cottrell has been at the cutting edge of Internet privacy, anonymity, cryptography and security for over 20 years. Lance Cottrell founded Anonymizer in 1995 and took it to a successful exit in 2008, which was acquired by Ntrepid (then Abraxas) in 2008. Anonymizer’s technologies form the core of Ntrepid’s Internet misattribution and security products where Lance continues to serve as Chief Scientific Officer. He speaks frequently at conferences and in interviews. Lance is the principle author on multiple Internet anonymity and security technology patents. He started developing Internet anonymity tools in 1992 while pursuing a PhD. in physics, eventually leaving to work on those technologies full time. Lance combines skills in security, cryptography, sales, marketing, management, and business strategy. Lance holds an M.S. in physics from the University of California, San Diego and a B.S. in physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has served on the advisory board of the UCSD Libraries and the American Public University IT Industry Advisory Council. In his spare time Lance may be found tending his pinot noir vineyard in the Russian River Valley AVA.
