Am Züchtungsstandort für Winterraps der Deutschen Saatveredelung AG (DSV) in Thüle / Salzkotten wird in den nächsten Jahren kräftig investiert, teilt das Unternehmen mit. Gerade wurde eine Mehrzweckhalle als erster Teil eines mehr als 10 Mio. Euro umfassenden Baukonzeptes eröffnet.
Aufsichtsrat und Vorstand der DSV trafen sich im Juni, um mit den Mitarbeitern vor Ort die Fertigstellung der Mehrzweckhalle zu feiern. Das neue Gebäude ist Teil eines mehrphasigen Projektes zur Erweiterung der DSV Saatzuchtstation in NRW. Mehr als 10 Millionen Euro investiert die DSV, nach eigenen Angaben, in den nächsten Jahren hier in ihre Rapszüchtung. Im Bau befindlich ist zur Zeit ein weiteres Gewächshaus. Folgen werden eine Logistikhalle, eine Maschinenhalle sowie umfangreiche Umbaumaßnahmen vorhandener Kapazitäten. „Mit diesen Baumaßnahmen unterstützt die DSV ihre starke Hybridrapszüchtung und stellt sich für den internationalen Wettbewerb weiter auf“, so Dr. Dieter Stelling, Vorstand und Bereichsleiter der Züchtung.
Zur Einweihung beglückwünschte der Aufsichtsratsvorsitzende Friedhelm Hüneke die versammelte Belegschaft und würdigte deren bisherige Arbeit und deren positive Ausstrahlung, die auch im Umfeld der Saatzuchtstation zu bemerken sei. Die Züchtung genieße, so Hüneke, in der örtlichen Bevölkerung und der Landwirtschaft eine sehr gute Reputation.
Die DSV gehört zu den Gründervätern der Rapszüchtung weltweit. Ihre Sorten werden in Deutschland und in vielen anderen Ländern der Erde über den Rapool-Ring vertrieben. Zur Zeit werden ausschließlich Hybriden in den Markt gebracht.
Neben Raps züchtet und vertreibt das Unternehmen auch Getreide, Gräser, Mais und Zwischenfrüchte. Mehr als 1.000 Hektar Zuchtgartenfläche werden von zehn Saatzucht- und Prüfstationen europaweit betreut. Jeder dritte Mitarbeiter der DSV ist im Bereich Forschung und Entwicklung tätig. Die Saatzuchtstation Thüle ist die zentrale Hybridrapszuchtstation des Unternehmens. Hier arbeiten zur Zeit 62 der insgesamt 600 Mitarbeiter. 165 Hektar Zuchtgartenfläche gehören zum Betrieb.
DSV invests in the oilseed breeding business
Deutsche Saatveredelung AG (DSV) intends to invest heavily in its breeding business site at Thüle /Salzkotten (Germany), says the company spokesperson. A multi-purpose hall was inaugurated only recently, marking the completion of the first stage of a €10m+ construction project.
In June, all board members joined with the local DSV staff to celebrate the event. The new building is the first part of a multi-phase construction project aimed at expanding the DSV breeding centre in the federal state of North-Rhine Westphalia. DSV says a total of €10m will be invested in oilseed breeding in the next few years. The new greenhouse currently under construction will be followed by a logistics hall, a machine hall and extensive alterations to existing buildings. “All this building work underlines DSV’s strong position in hybrid oilseed rape breeding and strengthens its standing in international markets,” explains Dr Dieter Stelling, director and head of the breeding division.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Friedhelm Hüneke congratulated all staff members and expressed his appreciation for their commitment and the positive atmosphere they create which radiates into the centre’s neighbourhood, pointing out that the breeding centre enjoys an excellent reputation among the local population and farmers.
DSV is one of the seed breeding founding institutions, and its varieties are sold in Germany and many other countries via the Rapool network. At the moment, sales are exclusively of hybrids.
But the company also breeds and sells cereals, grass, maize and cover crops, operating ten breeding and testing centres with more than 1,000 hectares of breeding ranges. One of three staff members works on research and development. The Thüle breeding centre is the company’s key hybrid breeding centre employing 62 of the 600-strong workforce and operating 165 hectares of breeding range.
