Germinal Ireland reseeding demonstration - Maximise the return from reseeding with upcoming Kilkenny reseeding demo

Ireland
July 7, 2016

Grassland reseeding is expensive, but done correctly, Teagasc has shown that the cost can be recovered within 2 years. An upcoming reseeding demo, organised by Germinal and Teagasc will be held on the farm of John and Bronagh Robinson, near Callan next Wednesday 20th July at 11am. Grassland reseeding will increase the quantity and quality of grass you grow on your farm. New leys are 25% more responsive to nitrogen fertiliser than old swards. There are a number of key steps that you must take to ensure a successful reseed is established, including building soil fertility and correcting soil pH. Choose grass varieties and an establishment method that best suits your farm. Finally and often overlooked is the correct selection of a post emergence spray to eliminate problem weeds. Good grazing management will improve tillering and sward quality for many years to come. These topics will all be discussed at the event. In addition a machinery demonstration will also take place demonstrating how to choose the most suitable reseeding method and ensure you get the best return from reseeding.

All are welcome to attend on Wednesday 20th July at 11am. The farm is located 8 kms from Callan on the R695 road to Kilmanagh (farm will be signposted from both Callan & Kilmanagh). *Note:  This is a DAFM approved Knowledge Transfer (KT) Dairy, Beef and Sheep Event.
