Nitrogen fertilizer is essential for growing many agricultural crops, including corn and wheat, yet can leach into groundwater and away from where it is needed for crop growth. Today, the company’s achievement with nitrogen stabilization has won a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award.

Instinct® nitrogen stabilizer: On the market since 2010, Instinct can be conveniently utilized with commonly used fertilizers to stabilize applied nitrogen. It has enabled broad adoption of nitrification inhibitor use in the United States as part of nutrient management programs.
In less than five years, acres treated with stabilized nitrogen have grown more than five-fold. In 2014 alone, based on calculated adoption in the U.S., it is estimated that Instinct use added about 50 million bushels of additional corn production and reduced carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by about 664,000 MT.
