Syngenta's Global Root Health Network on LinkedIn welcomes its 1,000th member

Basel, Switzerland
June 13, 2016

The Global Root Health Network (GRHN), a group hosted by Syngenta on LinkedIn® professional networking services, has welcomed its 1,000th member. What started in 2011 as a means to maintain a network of worldwide experts who attended two global and 15 regional Root Health Forums – also hosted by Syngenta – has grown well beyond those initial participants. This group enables global experts from private, public and non-profit institutions to keep connected and exchange information about the latest research that links healthy roots with plant performance and crop yield.

Worldwide reach to Root Health experts

The Global Root Health Network is an open group for all professionals interested in Root Health research. The group includes experts across all major regions: Europe (33%), USA/Canada (25%), Latin America (22%), Africa (10%) and Asia-Pacific (10%).

Information available on the GRHN includes links to articles of interest for Root Health, new technology reports, interviews with experts from across regions about their perspectives on Root Health, reports about the latest results, discussions to collect worldwide knowledge (e.g. on available identification tools) and announcements of conferences related to Root Health topics.

The majority of members bring an R&D background (62%) and most members represent public, non-profit and private organizations or institutions (60%).

Moving forward online

LinkedIn® was originally chosen as a platform for this network because it is a professional social networking site designed specifically for the business community. This service has grown significantly, with now more than 300 million members from 200 countries that represent >170 industries.

In 2016, Syngenta extended its capabilities in sharing information by launching a public web site called the Root Health Knowledge Pool (www.roothealth.com), where the information collected on Root Health through the years can be published in a structured manner. Syngenta sees this additional tool as an important cross-platform opportunity to link key research findings in more detail for long-term research community benefit.
