Benefits of a burndown
Starting clean with a burndown is important every spring. Here an Iowa grower covers a no-till field. “A burndown helps get crops off to a good start by limiting weeds that compete with emerging plants,” says Jonathan Siebert, Ph.D., Dow AgroSciences Enlist™ field sales leader. “This paves the way for a strong start to the growing season.” 

Plant with a plan, preserve yield potential
Bradley Moore of Tennessee plants PhytoGen® cottonseed with the Enlist™ cotton trait, which launched this spring. “When farming is in your blood like it is mine, planting is exciting,” Moore says. “There’s something new every day when you’re watching the plants begin to grow.” Like other cotton growers, Moore is looking forward to following the crop and using multiple modes of action to control problem weeds. Enlist Duo® herbicide is not yet registered for use on Enlist cotton.  

Every bag is an opportunity
Knowing you’ve got a plan to control yield-robbing weeds leads to greater confidence.  Many growers are including multiple modes of action to control resistant and tough weeds. Enlist™ cotton is tolerant to new 2,4-D choline and glyphosate – the components of
Enlist Duo® herbicide – as well as glufosinate. Although Enlist Duo is not yet registered for use on Enlist cotton, growers can use glyphosate and glufosinate on the new PhytoGen® cotton variety with the Enlist trait. 

Taking control of weed challenges
Kansas grower Steve Kliewer plants Enlist™ corn as part of a stewarded launch this season. He’ll be applying Enlist Duo® to his field this summer. Meanwhile, other growers are planting Enlist soybeans for seed production as part of an expanded Field Forward™program. Like Kliewer, they’re looking forward to seeing how effective this technology is in their fields. 

No weeds, no worries
Clean, uniform fields mean crops can take advantage of more available nutrients and sunlight to fuel rapid growth, leading to higher yield potential. “It’s best to hit weeds when they’re smaller to get the greatest benefit from your postemergence herbicide,” says Jonathan Siebert, Ph.D., Dow AgroSciences Enlist™ field sales leader.

Set up for a sensational summer
Control of yield-robbing weeds helps give crops an opportunity to deliver higher yields. A program approach – burndown, a preemergence with residual activity and an effective postemergence herbicide with different modes of action – can help growers control weeds all season long.  “New technology, such as the Enlist weed control system, is better today than anything we had in the past,” says Missouri grower Josh Turner. “It will be a great asset on our farm as we look to control resistant weeds.”
