United Kingdom - Extension of sowing date for wild bird cover in GLAS

The objective of the Wild Bird Cover Option within GLAS is to sow a seed crop mixture that provides a food source and winter cover for farmland birds and other fauna.
Wild Bird Cover is a spring sown crop that is left unharvested over winter to provide food for farmland birds.
One Year Mix
- Must use a cereal, oats, triticale, wheat or barley
- Must use one from Oilseed rape (Spring), Linseed or Mustard
- Seeds can be mixed
- Must be re–sown each year while in the scheme
Use
- 75 kgs/Ha Oats/Barley/Wheat (100kgs where broadcast)
- 15 kgs/Ha Linseed (20kgs where broadcast)
Two Year Mix
- Must contain kale and a cereal (Oats or Triticale/Wheat/Barley)
- AEOS mixture allows linseed as a cereal
- Seed cannot be mixed
- Half plot to be sown with kale, other half with cereal
- Cereal to be re–sown every year, kale to be re–sown years 3 and 5
Use
- 75 kgs/Ha Oats/Barley/Wheat (100kgs where broadcast)
- 3 kgs/Ha Kale (4/5 kgs where broadcast)
