- Crop must be sown by 31st May
- Maximum area for payment is 3 Ha
- Crop must remain in situ until 15th March the following year
- Where being replanted, livestock may enter parcel from 15th March
- Pre sowing weed control can be used.
- Pesticides cannot be applied post sowing – spot treatment with herbicides for noxious weeds and invasive species is permitted.
- Fertilizer can be applied at a maximum of half rate for a cereal crop.
- Parcels must be fenced off and stock proof.
- No harvesting of crop can take place.
- Drilling is the preferred sowing method, broadcasting is permitted.
- If broadcasting, increase seeding rate by one–third to a half
- If broadcasting, roll immediately post sowing.
One Year Mix
- Must use a cereal, oats, triticale, wheat or barley
- Must use one from Oilseed rape (Spring), Linseed or Mustard
- Seeds can be mixed
- Must be re–sown each year while in the scheme
Use
- 75 kgs/Ha Oats/Barley/Wheat (100kgs where broadcast)
- 15 kgs/Ha Linseed (20kgs where broadcast)
Two Year Mix
- Must contain kale and a cereal (Oats or Triticale/Wheat/Barley)
- AEOS mixture allows linseed as a cereal
- Seed cannot be mixed
- Half plot to be sown with kale, other half with cereal
- Cereal to be re–sown every year, kale to be re–sown years 3 and 5
Use
- 75 kgs/Ha Oats/Barley/Wheat (100kgs where broadcast)
- 3 kgs/Ha Kale (4/5 kgs where broadcast)
