Sakata Seed America announces expanded partnership with award-winning garden and lifestyle expert, P. Allen Smith, to include SunPatiens

Morgan Hill, California, USA
March 2016

Effective immediately, Sakata Seed America has announced an expanded partnership with P. Allen Smith. As part of this expanded partnership, P. Allen Smith will promote the company’s world-renowned SunPatiens® impatiens brand to a robust audience of viewers and followers.

Smith’s national television and radio shows, digital media, printed publications and social media platforms are followed by an impressive number of fans. And now, veggie and flower gardeners alike will be able to tune into Smith’s television shows, YouTube channel, social media platforms, and digital communications to not only learn about nutritious Sakata vegetables, but also learn how to plant, grow and decorate with beautiful Sakata flowers.

As far as SunPatiens go, Allen couldn’t be more excited to get started, “Exceptional gardens and landscapes are created with exceptional plants. SunPatiens, because of their extraordinary genetics, offer a variety of colors and texture that thrive in both sun and shade. SunPatiens are ‘user friendly’ for the home gardener and make even beginners shine like a pro. Easy to grow and with no fuss, they can be relied upon to deliver a ‘wow’ because of their consistent flower power. For big color, beauty and style, SunPatiens are at the top of my list.”

Smith is an award-winning designer, gardener and lifestyle expert. But, above all, he is a true plantsman that grew up in the nursery business.  Smith’s television programs, Garden Home, Garden to Table, and Garden Style, air on over 590 stations nationally, and speak to a range of related markets, such as gardening and outdoor living, food and cooking and farming and agriculture. Smith’s other partners include respected names like Bonnie Plants, Proven Winners, Jobes Organics and Le Creuset.

According to Mark Seguin, Sakata’s Product Manager for SunPatiens, “Through extensive trialing at Moss Mountain Farm in Little Rock, Arkansas, Allen has been able to select varieties that are not only beautiful, but are easy to grow and offer a great selection of color, texture and form. Allen recognizes that our award-winning SunPatiens impatiens offer consumers so much.”

SunPatiens have truly grown into an international success story. As the first impatiens on the market to be both downy mildew resistant and sun and heat loving, the SunPatiens brand has quickly grown into a gardening household name. Consumers request SunPatiens by name because they know they can expect consistent, stellar performance year after year. Although there are many look-a-likes on the market, the SunPatiens brand is truly one of a kind, providing three seasons of vigor and beauty, as well as more habits and color options than any other of its kind.
