La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
February 23, 2016

La Crosse Seed, a wholesale supplier of premium forage, cover crop and turf seeds is pleased to announce that Bert Strayer will assume the newly created role of Western Cover Crop Lead. Bert has been a Regional Sales Manager for La Crosse Seed managing Iowa territories for the past sixteen years and his seed industry experience spans three decades. Bert graduated from Iowa State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Business with emphasis in management and agronomy.

“Bert currently offers our retail customers and growers in the Northeastern Iowa area tremendous cover crop support and advice. His level of expertise and passion for cover crops is what made him an excellent fit to help lead the cover crop movement across the Western United States.,” says Patrick Reed, National Sales Director for La Crosse Seed.

“For the past several years the advancement of sustainability, soil health and water quality has been a very important initiative at La Crosse Seed,” says Dan Foor, Chief Executive Officer for La Crosse Seed. “We feel strongly that continuing to add expert resources while providing premium cover crop seed through the Soil First™ brand are two keys to helping farmers adopt these practices on more of their acres,” he adds.

Bert will lead the company’s cover crop efforts for all states west of the Mississippi while Scott Wohltman, current Cover Crop Lead, will focus on cover crop support for those states east of the Mississippi. His current sales territory will continue to be supported by three of La Crosse Seed’s Regional Sales Managers.
