News from AgGateway, Inc. - Seed Council Strategic Planning meeting

A group of 38 people from 23 companies representing seed companies, distributors, retailers and software providers across the Ag Industry met in St. Louis at Monsanto's Headquarters on May 3rd & 4th for the first AgGateway Seed Council Strategic Planning meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate current and future trends that may impact members' collective electronic connectivity needs and to review the current order-to-cash business process. The objectives of the meeting were to identify and prioritize opportunities for future standards, accelerate AgGateway's focus on guidelines and to develop the architecture that will serve as the basis for a strategic plan.
The meeting was characterized by great presentations as well as lively discussions as to the current state of the seed industry within member companies and lastly "Where do we go from here" It was agreed that there are some quick wins that can be attained. They include
(1) improvements to AGIIS
(2) Intra and intercompany transfers
(3) Product Cost Information and
(4) and Germplasm Trait and Treatment Reporting.
Other strategic priorities include
(1) Bar Code Scanning and
(2) Standardizing Unit of Measure.

The group will be meeting again on June 16th in Indianapolis at the CPP AgGateway meeting to review work to date and discuss next steps.
