United Kingdom
September 18, 2015
Bayer CropScience wishes to clarify earlier statements recorded in The Horticulture Week on September 17, 2015 as they do not accurately reflect our view on neonicotinoids.
Thiacloprid is a very effective insecticide that helps farmers and professional users control destructive pests. It has a particularly good bee safety profile and it can be used in situations where honey bees are prevalent, including flowering crops. As with all our products, it meets all stringent EU regulatory requirements and remains available as a crop protection tool which farmers have come to rely on as an effective and sustainable solution. When used according to label instructions thiacloprid is safe to operators, consumers and the environment.
The neonicotinoid family is an important class of plant protection products which offers tremendous benefits to its users. These solutions have long been the trusted tools to control important pests and diseases. Thiacloprid in particular has been a reliable technology in light of integrated pest management practices including in horticulture.
As a science-based company, Bayer CropScience is constantly investing to develop new solutions to diversify and optimise its product portfolio. Changes in product formulations occur as part of the company’s forward-looking business strategy to continuously rejuvenate in light of market needs and in compliance with long term regulatory requirements.
