The 2010 Beijing high-yielding maize activity has been launched in Kangzhuang Township, Yanqing County. Through consolidating resources and technology and enhancing science progress, we are able to establish permanent and safe farmland in large-scale, so as to lift farmland infrastructure and comprehensive production ability in Beijing, leading to increases of unit grain yield and total output for the city.
In 2010, the pilot zones of high-yielding maize will be 140,000 mu, with unified management of fertilizer and water, skill training, prevention and control of diseases and pests, as well as mechanized harvesting. The output will be increased by properly increasing planting density, postponing harvesting time and lengthening growing period of summer maize.
