2015 marked the 32nd year of the time honored tradition of Bayer CropScience Vegetable Seeds Onion Showcase within the Treasure Valley region.
Since 1983 Onion growers gather at Story Book farms in Roswell, ID to review trial material, discuss variety information, industry trends and situations with the current onion markets. The core motive behind the onion showcase has always been to celebrate partnerships between Bayer CropScience Vegetable Seeds and their customers and to show appreciation.Rene Emch (Product Specialist Onion), Jeff Boettge (Global Head of Onion), Kent Whittig (Crops Sales Manager Onion), Emily Stirlen (Marketing and Communications Specialist), Travis Whitney (Sales Specialist), Ashley Southerland (Sales Specialist), Bryan Bair (Sales Specialist), Riley Woodruff (Summer Intern), Juan Carlos Brevis (Long Day Onion Breeding), Rebecca Turner (Onion Pre Breeder)
Customers were presented with a talk from Juan Carlos Brevis (Long Day Onion Breeder) regarding his vision of the breeding program and an introduction of his team. Jeff Boettge (Global Head of Onion) gave insights into a global outlook on the Onion market and took questions from customers.
“The season was a bit earlier this year which made it even more difficult for our customers to attend with their busy harvest schedules. Seeing their commitment to attend our 32nd annual Showcase really motivates me. I enjoy this event very much and I am happy that we can do something in return for our loyal customer base to show our gratitude for their business and loyalty”, said Kent Whittig (Crop Sales Manager Onion) regarding the event.
