C & L Seed Production Group Inc. opens innovative modular seed processing facility in Blenheim, Ontario, Canada

Blenheim, Ontario, Canada
August 14, 2015

C & L Seed Production Group Inc. will be opening a new processing facility, ready in time to receive the 2015 seed corn harvest. The facility is the first new seed corn drying facility to open in Canada for many years.

The new facility, located in Blenheim, Ontario and operated by C & L Seed Production Group Inc., innovates on how seed corn will be processed: the modular technology being used in the facility has the ability to match the amounts of electricity and natural gas being used to the amount of corn being dried. This allows for tighter control of the amount of heat and fan intensity for the specific batch of corn being processed. The facility will be used for wholesale production of seed corn and will serve North American and export markets.

Owned and operated by two of Chatham-Kent’s most prominent farming families, the Giffin’s and Stewart’s, C & L Seed Production was created last year, however both managing families of the business bring decades of agricultural and seed experience to the company. Nearly a year ago to the day, the company predicted that their new facility would be ready for this year’s harvest; true to their word, the facility will begin operations this September (2015).
