On the occasion of the celebration of the "Fascination of Plants Day", the Italian Seed Association - Assosementi - and the Department of Agricultural Sciences of the University of Bologna have organized on 22 May a conference on the theme: "The plant research for innovation in agriculture."

In line with the objectives of the EXPO 2015, the different speakers made presentations under the themes of research and innovation in agricultural production, to feed the planet.

Assosementi officially presented the Italian version of the “Speak Up For Seeds!”  vision document on the future of ESA's varietal research, entitled. This presentation was attended by the vice president Giuseppe Carli and Andrea Demontis, also as representative of the European Technology Platform ‘Plants for the Future’.

The conference also counted with the intervention of Simona Caselli, Councillor for Agriculture of the Emilia-Romagna region, Giorgio Cantelli Forti, President of the National Academy of Agriculture, and the MEP Paolo De Castro, the latter through a video intervention.
