New Innovations in yield protection and enhancement’ is the theme for next Pollinator (14 May). With presentations by adjuvant experts Interagro, some thoughts about beyond the next chemical active from Syngenta, and insights into new innovations in spray applications from NIAB. This Pollinator is for anyone involved in producing, developing or applying chemicals. Many thanks to the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership for kindly sponsoring this Pollinator.
Then an opportunity to visit NIAB’s Innovation Farm on 23rd June for the ‘The pollinator pollinator’ which will focus on boosting the real pollinators which can improve yield naturally.
Head of NIAB’s Innovation Farm, Lydia Smith, will take us through the trial plots and give more information about the work of the Farm.
We will see some trials of seed mixes developed by Cotswold Seeds to help attract more pollinating insects and hear from CEO Ian Wilkinson about the benefits of forage legume.
Other presentations include: Lin Field of Rothamsted Research about whether insecticides and pollinators are incompatible; Lynn Dicks of the University of Cambridge on what, why and how much to plant for pollinators and Beverley Glover, Director of the Cambridge Botanic Garden on floral advertising to insects.
Finishing up the visit with Pimms and strawberries (to help with the metaphorical pollinating!), we are grateful to Hutchinsons for their generous sponsorship of this Pollinator.
