Beck’s Hybrids expands research and distribution in Southern Illinois, purchases site in Effingham to build distribution center to serve farmers

Atlanta, Indiana, USA
April 8, 2015

Beck’s is pleased to announce a site purchase on the southwest side of Effingham, Ill., next to the “Cross at the Crossroads” on I-70. Plans for the 90-acre property include building a 92,000 square-foot distribution center, providing additional agronomic support, hosting field day events, as well as conducting Practical Farm Research (PFR)® studies.

“The purchase of the Effingham site signifies another milestone in Beck’s exceptional growth,” said Scott Beck, president of Beck’s. “As we continue to grow, it’s important we stay ahead of demand. With the new location, we’ll be able to deliver products faster, allowing us to better serve customer needs throughout southern Illinois and Missouri.”

Beck’s Effingham facility will not only be the company’s largest distribution center in Illinois, but it will be a resource for farmers to learn and make decisions from the PFR research being conducted. Beck’s PFR studies are designed with the farmer in mind and highlight how different management practices and new technologies perform in field environments. Farmers can expect to tour PFR studies during the 2015 growing season.

"The City of Effingham is very excited that Beck’s has chosen Effingham as the location of its new research and distribution facility,” said Todd Hull, economic development director at the City of Effingham. “With agriculture being the area’s major industry, Beck’s will definitely be an asset to the farming community. We look forward to a long relationship with Beck’s, and we’re proud that they are joining Effingham’s corporate ranks.”

The Effingham facility will be supported by Beck’s Neoga, Ill. production and processing facility. Due to growing demand, Beck’s is greatly increasing production capabilities at the Neoga facility, which will be completed in 2016. In addition to Effingham and Neoga, Beck’s has four permanent locations in Illinois, including production, processing and distribution facilities in Pontiac, Allerton, and El Paso, as well as a PFR site in Downs.

“Even as we continue to grow, we’re dedicated to maintaining our family-owned culture and values,” said Sonny Beck, CEO of Beck’s. “With emphasis on local facilities, region-specific products, and practical research, the Effingham facility will allow us to provide even more localized service to farmers in southern Illinois and Missouri.”

Beck’s Effingham facility will provide multiple job opportunities including full-time positions in distribution, service, agronomic support, and PFR. For more information about Beck’s, visit www.beckshybrids.com or call 800.937.2325.
