Updates in the Russian GMO approval system

Food - Chief Sanitary Physician of the Russian Federation has cancelled his letter from 31.12.2009 № 01/20428-9-23, thus medical-biological evaluation of GM sources of food stays again with the Institute of nutrition, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
Feed - according to the Government’s Decree from 9th March 2010 N 299-р (in Russian) starting May 2010 Stater registration of animal feed is going to be repealed (including GM-feed). For GMO registration of lines (events) will be executed.
The same Decree requires substitution of the quarantine certificates of import by public notification on phyto-sanitary requirements to the imported plant material.
