Phyllom BioProducts announces the appointment of John Salmonson to the Board of Directors

Phyllom BioProducts Corp., (Phyllom) an innovative developer of bio-based insect controls to protect the beauty, health and value of forests, farms and landscapes from invasive beetles announces the appointment of John Salmonson to the Board of Directors.

John Salmonson has a sterling reputation as a successful entrepreneur and visionary leader in the crop protection and consumer lawn and garden industries. In 2010, John sold his company Monterey Ag Resources to Brandt Consolidated where he participates as a business strategy advisor.

Monterey Ag Resources developed and marketed a portfolio of organic and traditional crop protection and plant nutrition products to the nation’s farms and ranches. Monterey Lawn and Garden is a leading consumer brand now found in the garden center aisles of Costco, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware and Independent Garden Centers nationwide.

John is Northern California born and raised. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agronomy from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. He acquired Monterey in 1975 and through the efforts of a dedicated and talented team steadily developed the company into a leading marketer of specialty agricultural products and a widely recognized consumer lawn and garden brand. He was active in various associations and served on the board of the National Fertilizer Solutions, American Crop Protection and the Chemical Producers and Distributors Associations, California Fertilizer Association and the Western Plant Health Association where he was elected chairman in 2001 and in 2009 named recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. John served on the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Fertilizer Advisory Board for 25 years until January 2015, and remains chairman of the AB 856 sub-committee to develop regulations for organic fertilizers in California.

In 2001, John was appointed to the Cal Poly College of Agriculture & Environmental Sciences Advisory Board. In 2011 he received the Honored Alumnus award. In 2013, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Cal Poly Foundation.
