LumiGrow, Inc., the market and technology leader in smart horticultural lighting, today announced the release of the LumiGrow Pro series. The series launches with the industry’s two most powerful LED greenhouse lights, the LumiGrow Pro 325™ and the LumiGrow Pro 650™, both of which are compatible with LumiGrow SmartPAR™, the company’s new greenhouse light management software.
With the LumiGrow Pro series, LumiGrow equips growers with LED lighting systems that output more red and blue in the essential photosynthetic active radiation (PAR) range than the industry’s most powerful conventional lighting systems, including any high-intensity discharge (HID) fixture in the marketplace. Peerless in the horticultural industry, Pro 325 and Pro 650 lights double and quadruple, respectively, the brightness and efficiency of the LumiGrow ES330™ system, previously the industry’s most powerful LED light.
When powered by LumiGrow SmartPAR software, LumiGrow Pro series lights enable growers to automatically customize light output based on factors including region, climate, crop type and desired crop characteristics. These functions can be performed manually when LumiGrow Pro series lights are implemented without LumiGrow SmartPAR software. By tuning light levels and spectra in accordance with plant needs, growers boost crop yield and uniformity while they gain electrical cost savings of up to 70 percent compared to conventional lighting.
“With the LumiGrow Pro series, growers no longer need to choose between boosting yields and controlling operating costs,” said LumiGrow CEO Kevin Wells. He added, “The LumiGrow Pro series delivers the best of both worlds: tremendous power and energy efficiency unrivaled by any other light.”
LumiGrow Pro 325 LED Horticultural Light
The LumiGrow Pro 325 system, the fifth generation of LED horticultural lighting from LumiGrow, is engineered for commercial greenhouses and controlled environment agriculture (CEA) environments.
Like other LumiGrow solutions, the Pro 325 light eliminates waste inherent to conventional fixtures by focusing photons in plants’ primary response regions rather than in spectral regions plants can’t use. One hundred percent of the light produced by the LumiGrow Pro 325 system is productive for plants, yielding 70 percent energy savings versus the 1000-Watt HID lights they replace.
Additional key features of the LumiGrow Pro 325 light include:
- Energy-efficient 325 Watt power usage
- Full three-channel spectral control
- White-only View mode
- 50,000 hour rating without light degradation
- Compatible with LumiGrow SmartPAR software
- Integration with automated control systems
LumiGrow Pro 650 LED Horticultural Light
The Pro 650 solution is intended for commercial growers and plant scientists who require PAR output greater than that of 1000-Watt HID lights without the costly energy demand of these fixtures. Energy savings versus a 1000-Watt HID light is approximately 40 percent.
Additional key features of the LumiGrow Pro 650 light include:
- Energy-efficient 650 Watt power usage
- Full three-channel spectral control
- White-only View mode
- 50,000 hour rating without light degradation
- Compatible with LumiGrow SmartPAR software
- Integration with automated control systems
SmartPAR Light Management Software
LumiGrow SmartPAR software automates the creation and adjustment of sophisticated light schedules to improve crop yield and elicit desired characteristics.
To program an initial lighting schedule, the grower answers a series of questions about parameters including crop type, season, location and growing environment. The schedule is continuously adjusted based on data transmitted to a central controller from on-site environmental sensors. Any required schedule adjustments are wirelessly relayed to SmartPAR-enabled LumiGrow Pro series lights. For example, the lights can be programmed to turn off automatically when accumulated daily light reaches a targeted level. Each LumiGrow Pro series fixture can be individually adjusted, according to a calendar or a light threshold, to enable zone-specific lighting.
Additional key capabilities of LumiGrow SmartPAR software include:
- Photoperiod control/cyclic (intermittent) lighting
- Spectral plant growth regulation
- Energy use management and monitoring
- Adaptive light adjustment
- Integration with automated control systems
- Real-time maintenance feedback
The LumiGrow team will provide demonstrations of the new Pro series lights and SmartPAR software at OFA Short Course, Columbus, OH, July 14-17, 2012. To schedule a demonstration, contact Neil Coppinger at (415) 225-3948 or ncoppinger@lumigrow.com.
