Don't miss the final in-person public meeting of the National Research Council committee for the study, "Genetically Engineered Crops: Past Experience and Future Prospects." The committee will hear about the current state of knowledge on the safety of foods made with genetically engineered ingredients. The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 5, from 12:30 pm-6:15 pm Eastern at the National Academy of Sciences Keck Center (500 5th St. NW Washington, DC 20001).
The committee will hear from speakers representing the Food and Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the European Food Safety Authority. Experts will also present on the evaluation of risks of allergy and potential effects on the gastrointestinal tract of GE foods.
