Cellectis (Alternext: ALCLS), the French genome engineering specialist, has announced that BASF Plant Science has just broadened its license to use Cellectis’ meganuclease technology. BASF Plant Science is the plant biotechnology business of one of the world’s leading chemical company, BASF, and specializes in the research, development and commercialization of transgenic crops.

This agreement extends the license signed by Cellectis and BASF Plant Sciences in January 2006. Under a non-exclusive license, BASF Plant Science will use meganucleases engineered by Cellectis to make targeted modifications of plant genomes.

Financial terms and conditions of the agreement were not disclosed.

“The broadening of an agreement with a high-profile company that has been using our tools and technology for three years is very good news,” said André Choulika, Cellectis CEO. “It confirms that major players in the global agricultural biotechnology field have a high level of confidence that Cellectis’ meganuclease technology has an unparalleled ability to develop the next generation of high added value crops.”

BASF Plant Science élargit sa collaboration avec Cellectis pour utiliser des méganucléases à façon

Cellectis (Alternext : ALCLS), le spécialiste français de l’ingénierie des génomes, annonce que BASF Plant Science vient d’élargir sa licence sur la technologie des méganucléases de Cellectis. BASF Plant Science est la société d’agrobiotechnologie du groupe international BASF, un des leaders mondiaux de la chimie, et est spécialisée dans la recherche, le développement et la commercialisation de plantes transgéniques.

Cet accord étend la licence signée par Cellectis et BASF Plant Sciences en janvier 2006. BASF Plant Science bénéficiera d’une licence non exclusive pour utiliser des méganucléases à façon produites par Cellectis afin de faire des modifications ciblées dans le génome de plantes.

Les termes financiers de cet accord restent confidentiels.

« L’élargissement du contrat avec une grande entreprise qui utilise nos outils et notre technologie depuis trois ans est une excellente nouvelle », a déclaré André Choulika, Directeur général de Cellectis. « Cela montre que les principaux acteurs de l’agrobiotechnologie sont convaincus que la technologie des méganucléases de Cellectis a un potentiel inégalable dans le développement de la nouvelle génération de plantes à haute valeur ajoutée ».
