Illinois Foundation Seeds, Inc. (IFSI) elected John Hennenfent as Chairman of the Board during its board meeting held November 25, 2014.
John Hennenfent was unanimously elected Chairman of the Board for a one year term and will carry on the chairman duties in addition to his ownership/president role at Munson Hybrids. The IFSI chairman administers a 12 person board which provides overall strategic direction and planning, ensures IFSI reaches the financial goals for its shareholders and provides direction to management.
“Besides natural and nurtured leadership abilities, John Hennenfent brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position. I am looking forward to tapping into his expertise as IFSI creates product solutions for field crops and sweet corn clients globally,” said John Hiser, CEO of IFSI.
“I’ve owned and managed Munson Hybrids for the past 15 years and been involved in the corn and soybean seed industry for over 26 years, but the chairman role at IFSI will afford me the opportunity to witness what is happening with field crops and the sweet corn industry in another capacity as well as on an international scale,” said John Hennenfent. “The consumer demands high quality produce and is more and more knowledgeable about how their food is produced, so all levels of agriculture production need to step up and IFSI is positioned to meet and exceed these expectations.”
Munson Hybrids is a regional, family-owned seed company that meets the corn, soybean, silage, alfalfa, small grain and cover crop seed needs of farmers in Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Munson believes “Performance is personal”, focusing on the right genetics for each field and servicing local farmers by listening and developing a seed plan together.
