Marcel Bruins named as editorial director of European Seed as the magazine prepares for its launch at the 2014 European Seed Association Annual Meeting and European Seed Trade Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal.
With extensive global seed experience, Marcel Bruins is taking the editorial lead with European Seed magazine in the role of editorial director.
"In my previous role with the International Seed Federation, I was able to see the seed industry from a global perspective and gain a unique perspective on how the various markets interact. Focusing now on the European seed sector, I look forward to really drilling down into the issues that are shaping the industry and starting conversations that can influence change and drive innovation."
"We see the value and the need for European Seed magazine by the industry - the timing is excellent. With the addition of Marcel Bruins to our team, we are confident we can deliver top-notch content for the European seed industry," states Shawn Brook, President of Issues Ink and publisher of European Seed.
"Through the connections we've built over the past decade in the European seed industry, we knew there was a thirst for this type of communications tool," says Shawn Brook. "When we approached the European Seed Association with the concept for the magazine, the association encouraged our efforts and have been instrumental in driving the direction of European Seed.
Garlich von Essen, European Seed Association secretary general agrees to the assessment: "The European seed sector is at a critical point in its development and there are many issues to be addressed. The new European Seed provides a vehicle to get key messages out from and to the industry and a forum for discussion outside of formal meeting settings. We are looking forward to seeing and reading the first edition in October."
