New Zealand - Amendment to IHS 155.02.05: Importation of Seed for Sowing
New Zealand
August 21, 2014
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has issued an amendment to the import health standard (IHS) 155.02.05 Importation of Seed for Sowing under section 24A of the Biosecurity Act (1993). The IHS, dated 19 August 2014, replaces the earlier version of the standard dated 18 August 2014. The revised IHS is available to view on the following website:

Note: please refresh your browser to ensure you are viewing the most recent version of the IHS.
The changes to the IHS are a result of recent emerging risk assessments that have identified that Capsicum, Physalis peruviana and some ornamental species of seed may be hosts of Potato spindle tuber viroid (PSTVd). Specific measures for PSTVd have been added to the following schedules in the IHS:
- A new schedule for Capsicum; which applies to all species of Capsicum previously imported under the ’Basic’ conditions.
- A new schedule for Solanum; which applies to all species of Brugmansia, Solanum jasminoides, and Physalis peruviana, previously imported under the ‘Basic’ conditions.
The new requirements will come into effect on 1 September 2014.
