Last week Heliospectra, a world leader in intelligent lighting technology for plant science and greenhouse cultivation, launched a new generation of intelligent lighting systems, the LX60.The patented LX60 system is more effective, less expensive and more energy-efficient compared to previous products.
- The LX60 delivers what it promises. Overall, it looks very positive, says Ulf Jonsson at Swedeponic, which is the European leader in growing fresh herbs in pots for the grocery market that already have the new lighting system in place in one of their facilities.
Agronomist Ulf Jonsson, who started Swedeponic in 1995, has been an important partner in the development of intelligent lighting technology for plant research and greenhouse cultivation since Heliospectra started in 2006. Today Swedeponic is a leader in Europe and is still an important partner - and customer.
- For us it is of course important to constantly reduce our carbon footprint, minimize energy consumption while optimizing the quality of our products. The new LX60 is a part of this work and in the constant ambition, says Ulf Jonsson.
Swedeponic has had 22 fixtures of the LX60 in place at its facility in Hejsta outside Södertälje and will install another 22 LX60 in near future.
According Heliospectra calculations, the LX60 generates nearly 50 percent more light on the plants compared to its predecessor, L4A. It has also managed to reduce the weight to 8 kilograms from previously 13 kilograms.
- Ulf and Swedeponic was our first customer and has also become an important partner in our development. When our products live up to his and Swedeponic’s requirements, we know we got it right, says Staffan Hillberg, CEO of Heliospectra.
Earlier this spring Heliospectra’s Board took the decision for listing on NASDAQ OMX First North, which is scheduled for June 18. Also being implemented is a guaranteed rights issue of 22.65million SEK.
- New resources and broader ownership are key ingredients in this phase and in the aggressive international launch phase we are entering now. The LX60, which is our first volume product for professional greenhouse cultivation, has unique characteristics compared to the products and systems available on the market today, says Staffan Hillberg .
Heliospectra was founded in 2006 and specialises in intelligent lighting technologies for plant research and greenhouse cultivation. Heliospectra’s products are based on a deep knowledge of plant physiology and photosynthesis combined with a unique way of using state-of-the-art LED technology. After six years of development in Sweden, the company is now venturing into the international marketplace. The company has raised more than 4.48 million dollars in venture capital and has received more than 2.6 million dollars through academic scholarships. It has also won several awards for its forward-thinking technology.
