This is the last season that methiocarb slug pellets can be purchased, what action can growers take?

“As the final sales date for methiocarb slug pellets looms, those wishing to use these will need to ensure they purchase stock by the 18th September 2014 as that is the final sales date for all such products,“ advises Peter Stacey, Bayer CropScience’s Molluscicide Product Manager.

“However, those growers who are concerned about slug control in 2015, can purchase product this year and use it next, providing they do so before the final use-up date of 19th September 2015,” says Mr Stacey. “This could be especially important for the potato sector where methiocarb provides the all-important backbone for slug management.

“Usage varies from year to year but, hopefully, there should be sufficient stock for this year. However, depending on slug numbers which are currently very high, supplies might be tighter than expected, so it is important to purchase product as soon as possible, especially if contemplating buying for next season as well as this.”
