USA - Bayer CropScience announces winners of HBK Seed Fast Track Sweepstakes

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA
March 31, 2014

Two North Carolina soybean growers are winners of the HBK® Seed Fast Track Sweepstakes, Bayer CropScience announced today.

Ricky Bunn of Zebulon, N.C., and Stephen Lilley of Williamston, N.C., each won a Richard Petty Driving Experience for them and a guest at one of four race tracks. The winners’ prize package for two also includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, food and beverage allowance, and airport, hotel and track transfer allowance.

“It is rather appropriate that two North Carolina soybean growers from the heart of stock car racing country are the winners of the HBK Fast Track Sweepstakes,” said Bayer CropScience Senior Technical Sales Specialist Berry Lewis, who is the sales representative for Lilley.

“I am excited to experience the speed of a stock car for the first time,” said Lilley, who farms 600 acres of soybeans, corn, cotton, sage and peanuts around the Williamston area and has been a long-time customer of Bayer CropScience products, including Liberty® herbicide and FiberMax® and Stoneville® cotton seed.

“I decided to try my luck,” said Bunn on why he entered the sweepstakes. “The chance to drive a race car is the most exciting thing to me. I have never driven one, but I have always wanted to.”

Bunn operates K & E Farms, a 1,200-acre tobacco, soybean and wheat farm, and has been using Bayer CropScience products for six years. “The products and seed have always performed well for me,” said Bunn, who uses Belt® insecticide, Liberty herbicide and HBK Seed on his operation.

For 2014, Bayer CropScience offers growers 12 broadly adapted HBK Seed varieties, including six LibertyLink
® varieties, that cover Maturity Groups 4, 5 and 7 for the Mid-South, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Southwest regions.

“Growers now have more choices to select the HBK soybean variety that best fits their specific growing conditions,” said Scott Suddreth, Bayer field sales representative in Bunn’s area. “The local commitment of the HBK Seed breeding program and service, combined with world-class Bayer CropScience trait research and expertise, provides growers with technology solutions to manage their operational risks.”

Growers can get more information about high-performing HBK Seed soybean varieties from the new Variety Selector Tool™ app. This easy-to-use digital tool enables growers to review up-to-date HBK Seed information along with valuable soybean knowledge from local growers, consultants, university Extension and Bayer agronomic experts. The Variety Selector Tool is available for iPad users on the Apple App Store.
