Cheminova launches the herbicides Saracen and Spitfire with the active ingredient florasulam for the 2014 season in Europe and North America
Denmark
March 21, 2014
Cheminova can now offer the farmers in Europe and North America an alternative range of herbicide products with florasulam.
We are proud to launch our new herbicide products Saracen® and SPITFIRE™ 50 SC with florasulam.

The Saracen® brand
The first launch of Saracen® is in Denmark with a 50 g/l straight formulation.
Saracen® will also be marketed in Denmark in a twin can with a fluroxypyr 200 g/l product to benchmark existing mixtures in the market.

The SPITFIRE™ brand
We launch SPITFIRE™ 50 SC this spring in Canada, also as a 50 g/l straight formulation.
The product is used in two ways, either pre-emergence in tank mix with glyphosate (Burndown) or post-emergence in tank mixtures with other herbicides.
|
Proven efficacy
Florasulam has proven its efficacy against cleavers and a wide range of broad-leaved weeds for more than 15 years.
Increasingly, cereal growers around the world count on this active ingredient for high crop safety at low dose rates – with a wide application window.
|
|
We anticipate growers will appreciate the flexibility they get with SPITFIRE™. Being able to use it pre-seed and post emergence is a great benefit.
This fits well with both farmers’ needs and the flexibility needed by good agronomic practice. It also compliments our current product range.

Promising market for innovative products
The 50 g/l straight formulation is brought to market as a result of combined in-house skills and knowledge on synthesis of active ingredients, formulation development and registration capability.
True to our corporate strategy of bringing innovation to the field with highly differentiated crop protection products on the basis of proven active ingredients, we have developed a full range of florasulam-based weed control products that we expect to launch the coming years.
The global market for florasulam crop protection products is expected to grow rapidly in coming years, and Cheminova intends to win significant market share.
