Arysta LifeScience launches Everest herbicide in Russia

Moscow, Russia
March 19, 2014

Arysta LifeScience is pleased to announce the launch of EVEREST® WDG (flucarbazone, 700 g/l) Herbicide in Russia. EVEREST is applied on winter and spring wheat, and is based on the active ingredient flucarbazone, which belongs to a new family of sulfonyl-aminocarbonyl-triazolinone. This is the first product of its kind in the Russian wheat market.

“Our strategy is to have a strong presence in Russia by reaching 15 percent market share on spring wheat and benefiting from the strength of our distributor, Agvust,” said Christophe Sepulchre de Condé, Arysta LifeScience Herbicides Portfolio Manager for Europe & Middle East/North Asia. “Arysta LifeScience will pursue the development of EVEREST, especially on winter wheat, and will study further product mix opportunities in order to increase the spectrum of available options for spring wheat."

EVEREST is a global product of Arysta LifeScience that already has proven successful for the company in many other countries, including the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Morocco and India. Acting as an Acetolactate Synthase (ALS) inhibitor, EVEREST is an efficient tool to manage weeds resistant to ACCase inhibitors and, therefore, offers a new solution to Russian farmers. In addition, EVEREST can be applied earlier than other grass products in the Russian market, thus providing early removal of weed competition, which results in improved yields. Early application also allows control of second-wave avena, ensuring a long-lasting effect, one of the product’s biggest advantages. EVEREST also controls green foxtail and some broadleaf weeds, and it is an ideal tankmix partner with the other main products in Russia for grasses and broadleaves.

The official EVEREST launch event took place 11 March in Moscow, where Arysta LifeScience Russia invited its colleagues from the United States and France to share successful stories of EVEREST application in North America and to speak about its technical characteristics. The presentations were followed by an official ceremony of contract signature with participation of Hisaya Kobayashi, Head of JCEE (Japan & Central/Eastern Europe) in Arysta LifeScience; Alexey Fokin, General Manager of Arysta LifeScience Vostok in Russia; and Mikhail Danilov, Sales and Marketing Manager of Avgust.

The exclusive distributor of EVEREST in Russia is CJSC Avgust. Avgust is Russia’s largest company producing and marketing chemicals to protect crops for use in industrial agriculture, as well as for use by private owners of subsistence farms and country residences.

Arysta LifeScience is one of the world’s largest privately held crop protection and life science companies with 2013 revenues of US$1.6 billion.
