Following the successful audit of Elsoms seed treatment facilities and procedures by PAI Ltd, the European Seed Treatment Association (ESTA) accreditation has been awarded to the company. This is a major achievement for Elsoms, and comes on the back of major investments in facilities and personnel in the seed treatment facilities at the Spalding site.

ESTA certification is the QA scheme for the application of plant protection products to seed, handling and use of treated seed to ensure that seed treatments are applied to the highest quality standards by professional treaters.

Elsoms have been treating seed for over 30 years and recent investments in seed treatment machinery, including two RDC (Rotary Dry Coater machines), allows use of the latest in seed technology and processing to bring customers the highest quality seed products available.

I am delighted that Elsoms are now accredited to ESTA and I believe that other companies will soon start to follow suit. With companies like Elsoms joining ESTA, it gives a positive message that the industry is striving to improve its seed treatment facilities and preserve essential plant protection products’ said Garry Rudd, ESTA Technical Manager at AIC.

Only ESTA certified treatment facilities may use the ESTA logo on their products to document compliance and facilitate the free movement of treated seed throughout the European Union. Elsoms will shortly be introducing the ESTA logo onto their seed packaging.

This accreditation is a great achievement for Elsoms and another step forward in furthering the seed treatment business.

Robin Wood, Elsoms Managing Director said ‘Achieving the ESTA accreditation is great news for all involved in our seed treatment team, and it means that our customers know that we have an extremely professional approach to handling seeds at our site. The treatment of seeds is a very specialized activity, with farmers and growers needing a very high quality treated seed with the knowledge that treatment has been applied properly'.
