Trial results now available for Bayer CropScience’s new InVigor canola hybrids

Calgary, Alberta, Canada
October 15, 2013

Bayer CropScience has released the Demonstration Strip Trial (DST) results for the 2013 harvest. Growers can now visit InVigorResults.ca to compare the entire InVigor® canola hybrid lineup versus competitor results in their area.

“For years Bayer CropScience has provided growers with relevant and timely information through the Demonstration Strip Trial program. It’s part of our commitment to innovation that we offer this to help them make informed decisions,” says Blaine Woycheshin, Manager, Oilseed Crops – InVigor Seed for Bayer CropScience. “The DST results show the breadth and depth of our entire InVigor lineup and we feel confident that there is an InVigor hybrid to fit every farm’s needs.”

The two new “200 series” mid-season InVigor hybrids both exhibited top performance in 2011 and 2012 trials. InVigor L252 yielded 110 per cent of the new check hybrids (InVigor 5440 and Pioneer® Hi-Bred 45H29) in the 2011 and 2012 WCC/RRC** registration trials and was the highest-yielding long season zone hybrid in Bayer CropScience internal trials for the past two years. Similarly, InVigor L261, yielded 107 per cent of the NEW check hybrids (InVigor 5440 and Pioneer Hi-Bred 45H29) in the 2011 and 2012 WCC/RRC registration trials in the past two years and was the highest-yielding hybrid in the mid-season zone from Bayer CropScience internal trials.

Both the InVigor L252 and the InVigor L261 hybrids display the same superior lodging resistance as InVigor L130 and are already showing to be top performers across Western Canada in the 2013 DST trials. As trials are harvested, the website will continue to provide updates on the results to help provide growers with the information they need to make an informed decision.

“InVigor canola hybrids have consistently raised the bar in hybrid canola performance for over 17 years* and this season is no exception. 2014 looks to be another exciting year for InVigor growers and the entire Canadian canola industry as we introduce four exceptional new hybrids to our already formidable lineup,” adds Woycheshin.

The 2014 year marks the official launch of the first-ever InVigor hybrid with built-in sclerotinia tolerance. As the first line of defense against sclerotinia, InVigor L160S combines valuable sclerotinia tolerance with all of the benefits of the LibertyLink® system. The new InVigor L160S also hybrid features enhanced standability while offering the yield potential of InVigor.

Also coming in 2014 is the Western Canada launch of a new ‘game-changing’, pod shatter reduction hybrid, InVigor L140P. This new hybrid will help growers maximize yield performance while mitigating losses associated with pod shatter, allowing growers to consider delayed swathing or straight cutting. This enhanced yield protection offered by InVigor L140P provides growers with more freedom and flexibility in making their most crucial harvest management decisions.
